No plan wins everything. Pick the plan for what you need.

Five plans for the same budget app, each built five times by Claude Opus 5.5. Every build took the same 26 question test. Then we checked the test itself, and tried the apps by hand.

How a build is scored

20

Number questions

A script reads a number from the app and compares it with the answer key.

"How much did I spend in March?" The key says $5,731.47.

6

Screen questions

Another AI looks at five screenshots and answers yes, partly or no.

"Does the dashboard show where money comes from?"

÷26

The score

Questions right out of 26; partly right counts half. 85% means about 22 of 26.

The best four plans are 1 question apart. Two builds of one plan can be 6 apart.

Number questions count the 5 builds' answers, 20 each. Screen questions leave out the over budget warning, which no build could pass. Your verdict and the hands-on tests are for the one build of each plan you reviewed.

Sprint
17.3 of 26 right on average. Its plan put budgets, fixes, safe to spend and savings tips in 'not this sprint', and 3 of its 5 builds left budgets out of a budget app.

We checked the checker

Another AI writes a small test script for each app. Some scripts did the app's work themselves: they kept budgets in their own memory, worked out safe to spend, and decided alerts. Now every reading runs in a fresh process and every number must appear in what the app itself returned or showed. Scripts that cheated were written again, honestly. 11 of 25 builds changed: 29 passes removed, 0 earned back.

def set_budget(ctx, category, amount):
    _state(ctx)["budgets"][str(category)] = _decimal(amount) # kept in the script, never set in the app
    _goto(ctx, "/")

def read_daily(ctx):
    budgets = dict(_state(ctx)["budgets"]) # the budget it kept itself
    days_in_month = calendar.monthrange(year, month_num)[1]    # it counts the days itself
    ...
        daily = remaining / Decimal(days_left) # and works out safe to spend itself

From the first test script of sprint build 1, shortened, comments added. That app has no budgets at all, yet this script made it pass the budget, alert and safe to spend questions.

Tried by hand

Two testers used each reviewed app like a person would, in a real browser, on a clean copy. No app crashed on an import, a repeated import or a bad file. Hover a cell for what they saw.
